Description of Kazak carpets

The handmade Kazak carpet made with natural, vegetable dyes. This wool carpet from the Caucasus region is very popular. It's no coincidence, as its beautiful colours are perfect for most homes. The knotting technique is Gheordes, which means double knotting. Thanks to this technique, Afghan carpets are made more slowly but are much more durable. Because each knot is tied twice. After making a Kazak oriental rug, like our other oriental rugs, it is washed on stone four times. This is how we achieve the final colour, which remains durable. Washing on stones gives the Afghan rug a shiny appearance. Washing is followed by drying, which also does not use machines, but is simply laid out in the sun and left to dry. This way the Kazak wool rug will be 100% handmade. We also recommend it for underfloor-heated homes. It contains no allergenic substances.

How is a Kazak carpet made?

Today, Kazak carpets are made in the northern parts of Afghanistan and by Afghan carpet weavers living in Pakistan, where every step of the production process is carried out with great care. This process begins with the rearing of the sheep, where the provision of high quality pasture is essential, as the quality of the sheep's wool has a direct impact on the durability of the Kazak carpet. After the wool has been sheared, it is carefully sorted to separate the parts that will become the raw material for the Kazak carpets for everyday use. During the preparation of the wool, the fibres are carefully spun into yarns that last for several days. This is followed by the dyeing stage, where only natural dyes are used to give the Kazak carpet its characteristic colour. The dyed fibres are then dried in the traditional way, using sunlight in summer or artificial drying techniques in the winter. After drying, the next step in the production of the carpet is the knotting process, which is mainly done in workshops in Pakistan and in the homes of the makers in Afghanistan. The carpets are based on warp yarns, to which the Gheordes knotting method is applied. The post-knotting steps, such as shearing and thorough cleaning of the carpet, further enhance the quality of the Kazak carpet. The carpets are washed several times to prevent the colours from fading. At the end of the production process, the finished Kazak carpets are shipped in large quantities to our carpet warehouse in Budapest, where we have been offering them to resellers and online customers since 1993. All Kazak carpets are sold with a guarantee, to ensure customer satisfaction and outstanding long-term carpet quality.

"CarpetDepo pays particular attention to respecting human rights. We believe that all children have a fundamental right to education and healthy development, and we strongly oppose customs and practices that result in children being forced to work."

The rich and vibrant colours used in the Kazak rug are derived from nature, adding an authentic character to the overall aesthetic. These afghan rugs present a remarkable blend of traditional oriental motifs and intricate designs. Whether used as a centerpiece in a living room, a decorative runner in a hallway or a cosy addition to a bedroom, Afghan Kazak rugs embody the beauty and versatility of oriental rugs. Cleaning of Kazakh oriental carpets

Like all handmade oriental rugs, this one should only be vacuum-cleaned in the direction of the fibre. You can also clean small stains with a slightly damp cloth. However, for heavier stains, we recommend a professional carpet cleaning company who are familiar with cleaning handmade carpets. Because it is wool carpet, so its biggest enemy is the moth. Especially in summer, you may occasionally need to move the carpet or vacuum clean under the carpet from time to time. If you are traveling for a longer time, you should sprinkle lavender under the carpet. Of course, there are moth killer sprays available in shops, but these can be harmful to human health. Do not place very heavy furniture on Kazakh carpets as it may damage the knots in the carpet over time.
