Caring of polyester carpets
Caring of polyester carpets
Polyester is a well-known material in the world of machine-made carpets and has a very wide range of uses. As they are made from plastic bottles, they are environmentally friendly to produce and are stain and shine resistant. They are easy to clean and maintain. After purchase, it's worth walking on them for a few weeks first. This is important because polyester machine-made carpets are stored rolled up in our warehouse for weeks, so after the first unpacking they are wavy and this can scare customers into thinking they have received a faulty, wavy carpet. This, with use, will straighten out and take its final shape. After a few weeks, it can be vacuumed, but on the lowest setting of the vacuum cleaner. Dirt can be removed from the carpet with a slightly damp cloth or neutral carpet cleaning foam. There are specially formulated commercially available carpet cleaning foams. Moth will not damage polyester carpet. However, do not expose the carpet to strong sunlight because of the material.
Manufacture of polyester carpet
Most polyester carpets are produced in Turkey and Iran. Since it has become a mass-produced product, many factories specialise in the production of cheap carpets. There are also many Turkish carpet dealers in Turkey. What you should pay attention to is the weight and the knot density. The heavier it is, the more material it contains, the more durable it is. The fineness is determined by the knot density per square metre (points/nm). Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to see incorrect g/nm or point/nm on carpets. This is to deceive customers. The back of the carpet is coated with glue so that it cannot be folded. We, too, store our machine-made carpets in our warehouse, rolled up. That's why the carpet waves when it is laid, but that's not a fault. It is best to roll it up on the other side first and then roll it out. The remaining wave will come out of the polyester carpet during use. It is often heat treated to make it as resistant as possible to strong sunlight. But it should still not be exposed to strong sunlight.
